NORTH CAROLINA — Two women were shot late Saturday night near North Carolina Central University, according to the Durham Police Department.
Around 10:45 p.m., Durham police were assisting NC Central University police in clearing a large party near the intersection of Pekoe and Otis streets when officers heard gunfire.
Police later found two women with gunshot wounds just south of the party. One woman was located on East Pilot Street with a non-life-threatening injury, while the other was found on Otis Street with a life-threatening wound.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators said neither woman is a student at North Carolina Central University. No further details have been released as the investigation continues.
