PENNSYLVANIA — Two Lancaster County teenagers were seriously injured Monday night after a high-speed crash into a tree, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers said the crash occurred at about 9:53 p.m. on Newport Road, also known as Route 772, between Usner and Denlinger roads in Salisbury Township. Police reported that a blue Honda Accord was traveling at an unsafe speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 16-year-old girl, were both trapped inside the car following the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported both teens to Lancaster General Health for treatment of suspected serious injuries, authorities said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Newport Road was shut down for an extended period while emergency responders worked to clear the scene and investigate the incident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
