NORTH CAROLINA — Two people were injured early Friday morning after a police chase spanning nearly 20 miles ended in a crash in Moore County, authorities said.

According to officials at the scene, the pursuit began in Candor in Montgomery County and continued into Moore County before ending around 1:30 a.m. The chase concluded when the fleeing vehicle struck a power pole and overturned on Hoffman Road near Oakland Lane in the Foxfire area.

Emergency crews responded to the crash and found the vehicle flipped over. Fire officials reported that one of the occupants was pinned inside, with an arm trapped beneath the roof of the overturned vehicle. Crews used airbags to lift the car enough to safely free the individual.

Both occupants were transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, West End Fire and Rescue, and the Candor Police Department. The incident remains under investigation, and additional details about the circumstances leading to the chase have not yet been released.
