Two people injured after being struck by vehicle in Ohio

OHIO — Two people riding an electric scooter were injured after being struck by an SUV in north Columbus early Sunday morning, police said.

The crash happened just before 12:15 a.m. in the area of North 4th Street and East 3rd Avenue.

According to investigators, an adult was operating an electric scooter in the bike lane on North 4th Street when a gray SUV, also traveling northbound, turned left onto East 3rd Avenue and collided with the scooter.

Both the driver and passenger were ejected. Police said the driver of the SUV left the scene.

The two victims went to a nearby hospital on their own. The scooter passenger suffered serious injuries, while the driver’s injuries were less severe.
