
PENNSYLVANIA — Two people were critically injured Wednesday morning after being attacked by a dog inside an Allegheny County home, according to local officials.
Police and emergency medical crews were called to a residence in the 5900 block of Meade Street in Elizabeth Township shortly before 9:30 a.m. An on-scene official with the Elizabeth Township Police said the two individuals were attacked by their own dog inside the home.
Both victims were transported to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Police said the dog involved in the attack was shot and killed by officers at the scene.
Officials also reported that another dog found inside the home was taken in by a neighbor. The residence was described as being in deplorable condition and is expected to be condemned.
The incident remains under investigation.
