NORTH CAROLINA — Two suspects are in custody following a shooting near a park in North Wilkesboro, according to police.
Officers with the North Wilkesboro Police Department said they responded just before 3 p.m. Sunday to the area of Chestnut Street near Smoot Park.
Police said two suspects were taken into custody. Authorities reported that one of the suspects was shot and is receiving treatment for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Officials have not released the identities of those involved.
Police said it is not yet clear what led to the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A portion of Chestnut Street remains closed, though the park is open. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The case remains under investigation.
