OHIO — Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide discovered early Friday morning in the parking lot of the West Milton Municipal Building.
According to West Milton Police Chief Doyle Wright, an officer on patrol noticed a car parked in the lot at 701 State Route 48 just after 5 a.m. The vehicle’s trunk was open, and a man was found lying on the ground near the back of the car.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Wright said. Investigators later discovered a woman’s body inside the trunk of the vehicle.
Police believe the man and woman were married, though their identities have not yet been released.
The West Milton Police Division and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the incident. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation also responded to process the scene, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
