OHIO — Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred Sunday afternoon at a home on Gordon Road, just before a planned graduation party.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office said it received a 911 call at approximately 1:36 p.m. reporting a shooting at the residence.
The caller told dispatchers they were at the home preparing for a graduation party for a child who lived there when they heard gunshots. The child was not at home at the time of the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, the caller reported that a man in the home shot his wife before taking his own life.
Deputies arrived to find a 54-year-old man dead on a bed and a 53-year-old woman lying on the floor nearby.
Life-saving measures were attempted, and the woman was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities say preliminary evidence points to a murder-suicide. The names of those involved have not been released.
