Ohio Statewide

PEPPER PIKE — A wrong-way crash on Interstate 271 early Monday claimed the lives of two drivers, according to the Pepper Pike Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly after midnight near Chagrin Boulevard when a 2017 Toyota Tundra, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, collided with a 2024 GMC Truck.

One of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash.

Police identified the drivers as Curtis Houston, 29, of Garfield Heights, and Henry Banks IV, 32, of Bedford Heights.

Authorities confirmed that Houston was the wrong-way driver.

The crash forced the closure of the northbound lanes for several hours as emergency crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.

No additional details about the incident were immediately available.
