FLORIDA — Two men were killed early Monday morning after a vehicle lost control and overturned on Interstate 95 North in Boynton Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:47 a.m. just north of Boynton Beach Boulevard.

Troopers said a white 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling in the inside northbound lane when the 31-year-old driver from Lake Worth lost control of the vehicle. Skid marks indicated the SUV drifted onto the left shoulder before the driver swerved back into the lane, causing him to lose control.

The vehicle then veered across the roadway to the right shoulder, where it struck a metal guardrail and overturned.

A 38-year-old passenger from Boynton Beach was fully ejected from the SUV and came to rest on the roadway, according to investigators.

The driver was transported to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger also died as a result of the crash.

Northbound lanes of I-95 in the area were closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
