TENNESSEE — Two people died Wednesday night following a collision on Highway 11E near Knob Creek Dock Road, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. when a 2018 Kia Forte, traveling east at a high rate of speed, collided with a 2018 Mazda CX9 at the intersection.
The driver of the Kia, 31-year-old Thomas Elliott, and an adult passenger in the Mazda, 75-year-old Peter Sokol Jr., were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said Elliott was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Mazda and a juvenile passenger were injured and taken for medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
