TENNESSEE — Two people are dead and three others, including two juveniles, were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday night on Highway 11E near Rock Lane, according to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The THP said the crash occurred when a 2005 Honda Element, driven by 45-year-old Robert Eubanks, was traveling east in the westbound lanes.
The Honda collided in an “off-set head-on style collision” with a westbound 2021 Kia Sorento.
The impact caused the Kia to come to rest facing east in the left lane, while the Honda stopped facing west in the right lane.
Eubanks was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Kia, identified as 46-year-old Charlie Shepherd, also died from injuries sustained in the crash. The THP initially listed all Kia occupants as injured but later confirmed Shepherd’s death.
The Kia’s driver and two juvenile passengers were transported for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
