SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were killed early Sunday morning when a car crashed and caught fire following a brief police chase, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle near Anderson Road and White Horse Road around 1:45 a.m., but the driver did not stop, leading to a short pursuit.
Officials say the chase was called off near White Horse Road and Interstate 85.
Shortly after, authorities received reports of a vehicle that had crashed and was on fire on I-85. Deputies believe it was the same car involved in the earlier pursuit.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed that two people died in the single-vehicle crash.
Their identities are expected to be released Monday.
