SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people have died and another was injured following a head-on crash on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, according to authorities.

The three-vehicle collision happened around 8:34 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at mile marker 44 near the Highway 49 exit by Enoree, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said a 2021 Ford pickup truck was traveling the wrong way on I-26 East when it collided with a 2016 Volvo SUV. The Volvo was then struck by a 2026 Honda SUV.

The driver of the Ford pickup died at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified him as 87-year-old Robert Terry Homesley of Alexis, North Carolina.

The drivers of the Volvo and the Honda were taken to the hospital following the crash.

On Monday, the coroner was called to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after one of the injured victims died from her injuries. She was identified as 54-year-old Lorena Yamileth Vickery of Abbeville. Authorities have not said whether she was driving the Volvo or the Honda.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
