Two people dead following vehicle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in Lexington County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred around 8:58 p.m. on May 18 at the intersection of Neely Wingard Road and Ben Franklin Road, approximately eight miles east of Batesburg-Leesville.

According to SCHP Sergeant Tyler Tidwell, a 2019 Jeep Laredo was traveling east on Ben Franklin Road when it collided with a 2004 Chevy Malibu that was heading south on Neely Wingard Road.

Two occupants of the Malibu died from injuries sustained in the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
