OKLAHOMA — Two people are dead after a vehicle crashed into Lake Overholser early Sunday morning, according to Oklahoma City police.

Authorities said firefighters responded around 5 a.m. to reports of a submerged vehicle near County Line Road on the south side of the lake.

After locating the vehicle in the water, divers were called to the scene. Police said a man and a woman were found inside the vehicle and were pronounced dead.

Investigators said the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Overholser Drive at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway and entering the lake.

Earlier in the morning, police reported a separate incident in which another vehicle ran off the road and became partially submerged in the same area. The person involved in that crash was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims.
