OHIO — Two people were killed in a crash Wednesday evening on Ohio State Route 7 near the Solvay plant, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
The accident occurred at 6:55 p.m. when a 2016 Lexus RX 350, driven by Eva-Maria Hill, 79, of Marietta, crossed the median into oncoming traffic and collided with a 2018 GMC Yukon.
The Yukon was driven by Josylin A. Cunningham, 26, of Coolville.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected as factors in the crash, and both individuals were wearing seatbelts.
The collision led to the closure of both southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Route 7 for nearly three hours.
The roadway reopened shortly after 9:30 p.m.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the OSHP Crash Reconstruction Unit, Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Marietta Fire Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
