
OHIO — Two elderly residents of Albany, Ohio, were killed Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) cruiser.
The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on U.S. Route 50 near Fisher Road.
According to a news release from the OSHP, 82-year-old John G. Horton and 72-year-old LeAnn Horton were traveling westbound on U.S. 50 in a Toyota Prius when they attempted to cross the eastbound lanes to turn onto Fisher Road.
At that moment, a state trooper in pursuit of another vehicle struck their car.
The trooper, who had been attempting to catch up to a driver involved in a traffic violation, was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
