Two people dead following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — Two people were killed Sunday evening in a head-on collision in Licking County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Granville Post responded to the crash at 6:23 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 13 and Hupp Road, just south of Newark.

Authorities say a 2021 Toyota Highlander, driven by 68-year-old Rory Hiltner of Newark, was heading north on SR-13 when a southbound 2002 Ford Mustang crossed the center line and struck the Toyota head-on.

The Mustang was driven by 42-year-old Rocky Smith of Thornville.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, Heath Fire Department, Licking Township Fire Department, and the Licking County Coroner’s Office.
