Two people dead following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed two lives Tuesday evening in Fulton County.

The crash happened around 6:56 p.m. on September 2 along U.S. 20 at milepost 10. Investigators said a 2011 Chrysler 200, driven by a 67-year-old woman from Bryan, Ohio, failed to yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to continue straight onto County Road 19.

Her vehicle was struck by a 2026 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Brian Sims of Meadville, Pennsylvania.

After the collision, the Freightliner veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign, while the Chrysler went off the left side and into a field.

The 67-year-old driver of the Chrysler and her passenger, an 83-year-old man, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Sims was not injured.

Troopers said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but a rear passenger in the Chrysler was not restrained.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Morenci Fire Department, Fulton County EMS, Brett’s Towing, Rays Towing, the Fulton County Coroner’s Office, and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
