NORTH CAROLINA — Two people, including a 6-year-old child, were killed in a crash Thursday afternoon in Rocky Mount, according to police.
Officers responded around 2 p.m. to a collision on Sunset Avenue near Church View Drive.
Police said the crash involved a sedan driven by 24-year-old Carmen Poland and a van operated by 37-year-old Darrius Harper.
Authorities confirmed that Poland and a 6-year-old child died as a result of the crash.
A 48-year-old passenger in the sedan was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment.
Two passengers in the van, ages 39 and 45, were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
