
MICHIGAN — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Lenawee County, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police.
Troopers said they were dispatched around 2 p.m. to U.S. 12 near Wisner Highway in Franklin Township after receiving a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. Investigators determined that a gray Chevrolet Trax was traveling eastbound on U.S. 12 when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, an 85-year-old man from Brooklyn, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger, a 77-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the names of the victims.
According to state police, the investigation indicates the driver may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the crash. Troopers said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors.
