GEORGIA — A 49-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter have died following a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Tuesday, August 19.
The Bulloch County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the teenage daughter, who had been airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Savannah after the crash, has died. The mother, identified as Azure Rountree, was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
The crash occurred around 5:18 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 46 and Nevils-Denmark Road when a tractor-trailer ran a stop sign and struck the driver’s side of a Honda Odyssey van driven by Rountree. The truck’s driver was uninjured and admitted to running the stop sign.
Bulloch County EMS, Sheriff’s deputies, and the fire department responded to the scene. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team also assisted with the investigation. The road was closed for approximately three and a half hours.
