
FLORIDA — Two people were killed Friday morning in a crash that shut down part of John Young Parkway in Orlando, according to police.
The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of John Young Parkway and Orange Center Boulevard. Police said a driver struck a pedestrian, then continued off the road and into a nearby retention pond, dragging the pedestrian with the vehicle.
Both the driver and the pedestrian were found dead in the pond, according to the Orlando Police Department. Investigators are working to determine the exact time the crash occurred.
John Young Parkway remains closed between Orange Center Boulevard and Columbia Street as police continue their investigation. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use Orange Blossom Trail as an alternate route.
