
TENNESSEE — Knoxville police are investigating a shooting on I-640 West early Sunday that left two men dead and one critically injured.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. near Gap Road. Officers said one man died at the scene, while two others were transported to UT Medical Center with gunshot wounds. One of the two later died at the hospital, and the other remains in critical condition.
Preliminary findings indicate that the three victims were traveling in an SUV with a fourth man when the vehicle briefly pulled over on the side of I-640.
Authorities say the fourth man allegedly opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.
