Two people dead following shooting incident in Indiana

INDIANA — Two men were killed and two others were injured in separate shootings early Sunday on Indianapolis’ east side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The first shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. in the 3800 block of East Michigan Street, an area with both businesses and residences near North Sherman Drive. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound. Police initially said he was in critical condition, but he died after being taken to a hospital.

A second shooting occurred around 4:10 a.m. in the 3100 block of Forest Manor Avenue, about three miles north of the Michigan Street scene. Officers arrived to find two men with gunshot wounds. One man died at the scene, and the other was described as “awake and breathing.”

A third victim was located shortly afterward in the 3000 block of Gladstone Avenue. Police believe that person was also shot during the Forest Manor incident. The victim was “awake and breathing” but listed in critical condition.

Investigators have not said what led to either shooting, whether any suspects have been identified, or if the two incidents may be connected.
