GEORGIA — Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting Sunday evening outside a Best Buy store in Richmond County, authorities said.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving several 911 calls around 6:10 p.m. about shots fired in the parking lot off Walton Way Extension. Deputies arrived to find two adults dead from gunshot wounds.
A third adult was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. A young child was present during the incident but was not harmed, according to investigators.
Sheriff Gino Brantley said evidence from witnesses and video shows the shooting was domestic-related.
“Our hearts go out to the child who was present during this senseless tragedy,” Brantley said in a statement. “No child should ever have to experience such trauma. As a community, we must come together to support him and others who are affected. Violence is never the answer to our problems, it only leaves behind grief, pain, and broken families. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to working with our community to prevent violence and ensure safety for every resident.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
