Two people dead following motorcycle crash in Ohio

OHIO — Two people were killed late Monday night in a motorcycle crash on state Route 43 in Stark County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:57 p.m. on June 24, when a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling northbound struck a southbound 2021 Subaru Forester that was turning into a private driveway.

The motorcycle was operated by Richard Townsend Jr., 53, of Magnolia, with Jennifer Byers, 48, of Navarre riding as a passenger.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Coroner’s Office. Authorities said neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Subaru, 89-year-old Merle Pearson of Waynesburg, was not injured, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation. The Ohio Department of Transportation, Mohawk Valley Fire and EMS, and Spencer’s Towing assisted at the scene.
