Two people dead following boat crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating a fatal boat crash that claimed the lives of two people Friday night in the Skull Creek area of Hilton Head Island.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, along with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard, responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision on the water.

Deputies say the boat involved had four occupants. Two individuals were found with injuries and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The other two were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the victims have not been released as the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office works to notify next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
