
ALABAMA — Two people were killed early Sunday morning after a police chase ended in a crash near Troy University, authorities said.
According to Troy University Police, officers discovered a vehicle parked along Elm Street near campus around 2 a.m. When officers approached and attempted to make contact, the vehicle fled the area.
Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance before it ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole, officials said.
Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said they were the only occupants of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The identities of the victims have not been released. Police said both were from Troy and were not Troy University students.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash.
