LOUISIANA — The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double homicide after two teenagers were found dead inside a vehicle that crashed into a home in LaPlace.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said deputies were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of Yorktowne Drive following reports of a vehicle crashing into a residence.

Traffic investigators were the first to arrive at the scene and observed that the vehicle had been struck multiple times by gunfire. As they approached the car, deputies found two individuals inside who were unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the victims as Daniel Robles De Medina, 18, and Gerard Garrett, 17.

According to Sheriff Tregre, two handguns and two cellphones were recovered from inside the vehicle. Investigators believe the two teens may have shot each other during a dispute involving drugs.

The investigation remains ongoing. No additional details have been released.
