Two people dead, 13 injured following shooting incident in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — At least two people are dead and several others are critically injured after a shooting at a large party early Saturday morning in Robeson County, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the shooting occurred at a residence on Dixon Drive, located at the end of a rural dirt road in a secluded neighborhood just outside of Maxton, southeast of Fayetteville.

Investigators confirmed that at least 13 people were shot, including two who died from their injuries. Authorities said more than 150 people fled the area before law enforcement arrived.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. Because it did not affect areas outside of the secluded neighborhood, officials said no press conference is planned at this time.

Names of the victims are being withheld until families are notified. Additional information is expected to be released later today.

Anyone with information about the shooting or who was present at the party is urged to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3100 or email sheriff.wilkins@robesoncountysonc.gov.
