LOUISIANA — A Shreveport couple has been arrested after state officials said they lied about their income to obtain Medicaid benefits while living a lavish lifestyle.

Attorney General Liz Murrill announced Wednesday that Ebony Taylor, 42, and Andre Jackson, 39, were taken into custody on charges of government benefits fraud.

Investigators said the couple began receiving Medicaid in 2017 after Taylor reported earning $750 every other week and Jackson claimed he had no income.

While on Medicaid, authorities said the couple owned a $650,000 home, multiple pieces of land, and maintained a $350,000 savings account.

Records showed they also purchased a BMW, paid $94,000 for a pool installation, and spent money on plastic surgery, vacations, jewelry, restaurants, liquor stores, and other luxury items.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the couple defrauded the Medicaid program out of approximately $127,000 over eight years. Taylor and Jackson were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and may face additional charges.
