
NORTH CAROLINA — Two Forest City residents were arrested Wednesday night following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of fentanyl, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were patrolling the College Avenue area when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. During a search of the vehicle, authorities reported finding approximately 14 grams of fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Jennifer Nicole Alley, 32, of Forest City, was arrested and charged with trafficking in fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested was Desmond Hykeem Jefferson, 33, also of Forest City, who faces the same charges.
The sheriff’s office said both individuals were denied bond and are being held in custody until their first appearance before a District Court judge.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office noted that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
