OHIO — Two juveniles were arrested Friday night after Cleveland police recovered a stolen vehicle during a targeted operation aimed at curbing auto thefts and car break-ins on the city’s West Side.
According to police, detectives from the Second District located a car reported stolen out of East Cleveland around 9 p.m. after cameras detected it in the Ohio City and Gordon Square neighborhoods. Officers later found the vehicle parked near West 73rd Street and Detroit Avenue.
When police attempted to stop the car, the five occupants fled on foot after the vehicle sped toward a dead end. Officers arrested two suspects — a 13-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Maple Heights and a 17-year-old girl.
Both juveniles were charged with receiving stolen property and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. Police said they were later released to caregivers under home detention and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The vehicle was recovered, and police said the operation targeting auto thefts and car break-ins remains ongoing.
