SOUTH CAROLINA — A Wednesday night shooting at a Florence County home has led to the arrest of two people, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 10 p.m. to a reported shooting at 418 South Fourth Street in the Florence area.

Authorities arrested 19-year-old Simareon Kayvonte Benjamin on Thursday. He is charged with four counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, and criminal conspiracy.

Mary Dean Benjamin, 58, was also arrested and faces four counts of attempted murder and criminal conspiracy. She was not charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Deputies said four victims were inside the home at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported.

When asked about the relationship between the two suspects, Chief Deputy Thomas Sullivan said court documents did not specify how they are connected.

Both suspects are being held at the Florence County Detention Center and are awaiting bond hearings.

The investigation remains ongoing.
