OHIO — The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office says two people were arrested Thursday following a police chase in Elyria.
Deputies reported they stopped a vehicle around 1:06 p.m. near Warden Avenue and Adams Street. As a deputy approached the car, the driver, identified as Travone Devonte Lee Edwards of Lorain, allegedly drove off.
According to deputies, Edwards stopped at a home on Cambridge Avenue and fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
He faces multiple charges, including failure to comply, weapons under disability, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, obstructing official business, failure to identify, and intimidation. Authorities added that Edwards also has outstanding warrants from Lorain and Westlake police.
The passenger, identified as Grace Stephenson of Lorain, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence. Deputies believe a loaded firearm was thrown from the car during the pursuit. K9 Zoar later located the weapon.
Ammunition matching the gun, along with items suspected to be used for narcotics, were also recovered from the vehicle.
Both Edwards and Stephenson were taken to the Lorain County Jail.
