NORTH CAROLINA — Two women have been arrested in connection with a methamphetamine trafficking investigation in Caldwell County, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Kevin Bean said the arrests occurred March 24 with assistance from the Granite Falls Police Department and the Lenoir Police Department.
Authorities identified the suspects as 50-year-old Krystal Leigh Horner of Collettsville and 37-year-old Heather Marie Payne of Granite Falls.
Deputies said the two were stopped on Duke Street, where a K-9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $6,000.
Horner faces multiple trafficking charges and was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center without bond. Payne is charged with conspiracy to traffic meth and was also held without bond.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.
