OHIO — Two people were arrested Thursday afternoon following a high-speed motor vehicle pursuit and foot chase involving the Ohio State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies.

The pursuit began around 2 p.m. on I-71 South near mile marker 230 in Strongsville, after troopers attempted to pull over a vehicle.

The driver initially stopped but then fled, prompting a pursuit that was temporarily ended near mile marker 228 to avoid a construction zone.

The chase resumed when troopers spotted the vehicle near mile marker 223, reportedly traveling recklessly at speeds exceeding 130 mph. Medina County Sheriff’s Deputies deployed stop sticks to disable the vehicle, bringing it to a stop on the shoulder.

The driver and passenger fled on foot into a wooded area. With assistance from the Medina County SWAT Team and the Ohio State Patrol Aviation Unit, both individuals were tracked down and taken into custody.
