TENNESSEE — A traffic stop on Interstate 40 West in Mt. Juliet led to the discovery of drugs and firearms and resulted in two arrests, according to authorities.
Police said an officer initiated the stop after noticing marijuana on the driver’s shirt. As the officer attempted to investigate and make an arrest, the driver fled the vehicle and ran into interstate traffic.
Authorities said the officer deployed a Taser and was able to take the man into custody.
The seizure included approximately 2 pounds of marijuana, half an ounce of cocaine, 2 grams of fentanyl and three firearms.
The driver, a 29-year-old Nashville man, faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana for resale, possession of cocaine and fentanyl, evading arrest, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
A passenger, identified as a 27-year-old man, was also arrested. He is charged with possession of marijuana for resale and had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Smyrna.
The investigation remains ongoing.
