MICHIGAN — Two people were arrested after authorities uncovered a large-scale drug operation in Mount Clemens, which included a functioning lab producing counterfeit fentanyl and methamphetamine pills, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 13, the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), assisted by the Warren Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence on Grand Avenue.
Investigators reportedly seized more than 1,000 pressed fentanyl and methamphetamine pills, 225 grams of Etizolam, approximately 1,300 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, steroids, two firearms, a vehicle, and extensive packaging materials.
The male suspect, 52, allegedly used a false identity to operate the lab, sourcing chemicals from overseas to manufacture unregulated substances. A 41-year-old woman was also taken into custody.
Both suspects, residents of Mount Clemens, are being held at the Macomb County Jail pending arraignment in 41B District Court in Clinton Township. The man faces multiple felony charges, including operating a drug lab, manufacturing controlled substances, and weapons violations. The woman faces charges of drug manufacture and possession.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham emphasized the danger posed by the operation, noting its proximity to an elementary school. “Conducting illegal drug activity anywhere is unacceptable, but doing so near an elementary school shows a blatant disregard for the safety of our children,” he said.
