VIRGINIA — Two people were arrested after a drug bust in Alleghany County late Sunday night, April 6, 2025.
Deputies with the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office Regional Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 11:00 p.m. at a residence located at 8003 Potts Creek Road.
The raid followed a tip earlier in the day about methamphetamine distribution at the location.
Inside the home, deputies found nearly three-quarters of an ounce of methamphetamine, several smoking devices, and a handgun.
Kevin Nida and Sherry Vance, who were at the residence at the time, were taken into custody.
Nida faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule I or II drug, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession with intent to manufacture or distribute Schedule I or II drugs—his third or more offense.
Vance was charged with possession with intent to manufacture or distribute Schedule I or II drugs, and possession of a firearm while in possession of such drugs.

The Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force includes personnel from the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, Covington Police Department, Bath County Sheriff’s Office, Craig County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police.
