VIRGINIA — Two people were arrested Tuesday after community complaints prompted investigators to serve a narcotics search warrant at a home in Bassett, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the search warrant was executed the night of Dec. 10 on Longview Drive following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office VICE and Narcotics Interdiction Unit. The investigation began after residents reported suspected illegal drug activity at the residence.

Inside the home, investigators found methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and Suboxone. Two individuals — Sarah Burnette Foster, 37, of Bassett, and Pierre Quartez Scales, 35, of Martinsville — were taken into custody.

Foster is charged with possession of Schedule I or II drugs and is being held without bond. Scales faces charges of resisting arrest, obstructing justice without threats of force, and possession of Schedule III drugs. He is being held on a $2,500 secured bond.

Sheriff Wayne Davis emphasized the department’s stance against illegal narcotics, stating, “Drug dealers who poison our neighborhoods will find no safe haven in Henry County. We have zero tolerance for those who choose to bring illegal narcotics into our communities, and we will continue to aggressively investigate and remove these individuals to keep our citizens safe.”

Anyone with information about illegal drug activity is encouraged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or Crime Stoppers at 63-CRIME (276-632-7463).
