TEXAS — A routine traffic stop early Thursday morning led to a drug bust and the arrest of two people in Beaumont, according to police.
Officers conducted the stop shortly after 1 a.m. in the area of Concord Road and East Lucas Drive. Authorities said the driver of a Cadillac was pulled over during midnight patrol operations.
During the stop, officers determined that the passenger, identified as 42-year-old Twana York, was in possession of suspected marijuana.
Police said the driver, 41-year-old Christopher Montgomery, was then removed from the vehicle, and officers conducted a probable cause search. During the search, authorities reported finding a large quantity of suspected phencyclidine (PCP), totaling nearly two pounds, along with additional suspected drug paraphernalia.
Montgomery and York were both arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. They were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
A magistrate set bond at $100,000 for Montgomery and $50,000 for York.
In a statement, Beaumont police said, “Great work by our proactive midnight patrol officers! Our officers are out working around the clock to help keep Beaumont safe and take illegal drugs off our streets.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
