SOUTH CAROLINA — The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two men over the weekend in connection to drug trafficking involving methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Maxim Tony Iusico, 23, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
David Charles Lord Jr., 48, of Summerville, faces similar drug trafficking charges, authorities said.
Deputies were patrolling the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot on Dorchester Road in Summerville on Saturday when a citizen alerted them to suspicious activity behind the building.
Responding deputies found two men matching the description given.
One of the men appeared impaired, speaking slowly and slurring his words, with pinpoint pupils and what deputies described as a fresh needle mark on his arm.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, deputies discovered three loaded long rifles, two handguns, two plastic bags containing a shard-like substance, and three bags of a gray, powdery substance believed to be fentanyl.
Sheriff Sam Richardson praised the deputies’ work, stating, “The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has zero tolerance for individuals who traffic deadly drugs in our community. Protecting the safety, security, and quality of life for our citizens is our highest priority.”
