
SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested early Monday morning after police discovered drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop in Port Royal, according to authorities.
Officers with the Port Royal Police Department conducted the stop around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Ribaut Road and Paris Avenue after observing a traffic violation.
During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Investigators said the search led to the discovery of a firearm and multiple illegal substances, including marijuana, alprazolam (Xanax), amphetamine salts (Adderall), psilocybin mushrooms and crack cocaine.
Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
Authorities have not released the identities of those arrested or the specific charges they may face.
The investigation remains ongoing.
