SOUTH CAROLINA — Two people were arrested last week following a months-long narcotics investigation that led deputies to seize fentanyl and other drugs from a Kershaw residence, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies executed a search warrant on Friday, Sept. 26, at the Gold Mine Highway home of 36-year-old Cory James after investigators conducted two controlled fentanyl purchases at the location.
Inside the residence, deputies seized nearly half an ounce of fentanyl, liquid hydrocodone, and digital scales. Another man found inside the home was not charged.
Arrest warrants were also issued for 42-year-old Jessica Vogel in connection with the items discovered. She was taken into custody at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Both James and Vogel were denied bond and face trafficking fentanyl charges along with several additional drug-related offenses.
Charges include:
- Cory James (Hunter): Two counts of distribution of fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl (4–14 grams), possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in proximity to a school or park.
- Jessica Vogel: Possession of fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl (4–14 grams), possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in proximity to a school or park.
“Our objective is to shut down these drug houses, put people in jail who are selling drugs, and make these neighborhoods safe and clean for the people living in them,” Sheriff Barry Faile said in a statement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
