OHIO — Two people were arrested after a traffic stop on State Route 800 near Malaga, the Monroe County Criminal Interdiction Unit reported.
Samuel Rios Maldonado and Esther Vargas, both citizens of Mexico, were taken into custody after K-9 Max alerted deputies to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from their vehicle.
A search revealed approximately six grams of suspected cocaine and 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Both individuals are being held at the Monroe County Jail on two counts of drug possession. Authorities also noted that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has an active arrest warrant for Maldonado related to immigration violations.
