Two people arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Two individuals were arrested on felony drug charges in West Asheville on June 23 as part of a proactive crime prevention effort by the Asheville Police Department.

According to a news release, officers were responding to community complaints when they made contact with 40-year-old Stephane Michelle Vosburg at 5:47 p.m.

Officers discovered Vosburg had an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, she was found in possession of narcotics and taken into custody without incident.

Vosburg was charged with possession of Schedule II drugs and second-degree trespass. She was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $3,500 secured bond.

Later that evening, officers stopped a motorcycle on State Street after it was seen traveling the wrong way on a one-way street and failing to stop at a stop sign.

The rider, identified as 54-year-old Steven Lamar Rice Jr., was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of narcotics and was also taken into custody without incident.

Rice faces multiple charges, including felony trafficking in opiates by transport and possession (Level I), felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule II drugs, two counts of felony possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed gun, driving while license revoked, failure to display a license plate, and a stop sign violation.

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $100,000 secured bond.

Police said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address community concerns and reduce crime in the area.
