NORTH CAROLINA — Two individuals were arrested following a traffic stop conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on Shadydale Acres Lane in Trinity on Jan. 8, 2025.
According to the sheriff’s office, James Edward Rogers, 54, was taken into custody for a felony probation and parole violation.
He was also wanted on an outstanding order for arrest from Davidson County for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, deputies said they discovered illegal substances and drug paraphernalia.
The female passenger initially provided deputies with a false name but was later identified as Shirley Dove Hazelwood, 50. Authorities said Hazelwood had an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear from Guilford County, related to a charge of possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance.
Hazelwood was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine along with several misdemeanor offenses. She was denied bond due to being out on pre-trial release, and her first court appearance was scheduled for Jan. 9, 2026.
Rogers was given a $6,000 secured bond for the failure to appear order and an additional $30,000 secured bond. His court date is set for Jan. 7, 2026.
Both Rogers and Hazelwood were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center following their arrests.
